I used to have a cheap tenderizer (plastic) I got from Cabela's $30 years back that worked good on chicken breasts, pork loin and steaks, but it broke fairly quick and I never replaced it. To me, it probably wasn't used enough, or liked enough to warrant replacing
Reviews look pretty good on it
Some butchers will run stuff through the tenderizer if you ask em
Jaccards don't slice.
This slices into even strips and also pokes holes.
Been looking around for something like this for when I go commercial.
Jerky's a real money maker, but hand cutting every single piece for a commercial run doesn't appeal. Something like this would definitely come in useful
Been running some numbers and for around £300 outlay in raw meat, spices, wattage, packing etc. I should be getting back £1300
And that's with undercutting all similiar products I could find in the uk.
But you'd need an automated cutter. something neat and compact like this unit would fit nicely.
I have the jerky attachment that connects to the grinder motor. You are limited on the width and thickness of the slab that goes into the unit. It will cut very nice 1/4" thick slices. It is also a pain to clean when done. I have used mine a few times over the past 10 years. I have also used it to make strips for fajitas and for stroganoff.
Overall, if I were going to use a bunch of 1"- 1.5" thick London Broil type top round cuts of meat for jerky, this thing works well. For one top round slab, I would use a knife. Kind of like dirtying up the grinder for one burger.
Lang 36 Patio, a few Webers, 2 Eggs, plenty of gadgets and a MES 40 Gen 2.5 electric for bacon and sausage.
My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.
