When I was a kid Planter's made a candy bar like a peanut brittle but more peanutty. I haven't seen them in years so I thought I would try making it myself. It came out really good but more a cross between peanut butter fudge and brittle. I think I got carried away with the peanut butter. It was excellent in any case. Here's the recipe.
Deejay’s Planter’s Style Peanut Candy
Ingredients
1 1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Baking Power
1 Jar Planters Lightly Salted Peanuts
I love peanut butter so I added a good amount you can add more or less if you want to.
Directions
Mix everything together except the peanuts and peanut butter.
Microwave high for about 1 minute if it tries to boil over turn off.
Stir well and microwave high for about 1 minute if it tries to boil over turn off.
Repeat until mixture reaches 300ᵒF.
Blend in peanut butter and peanuts and mix well.
Quickly spread on a greased 15x10 inch cookie pan.
Let stand until cool enough to handle.
Cut into pieces.
This takes about 5 minutes to make plus time to cool.
