Finally getting some time to smoke. It's really been a while....
Picked up a small chicken and thought I'd try a beer can chicken for the first time Saturday afternoon. Nothing fancy here, no brine either...just plain and simple.
Chicken was rubbed with butter and Plowboy's Yardbird Rub bought from Bubba's store.
And no fancy beer...just Budweiser.
Going in.....
A little thin blue from Bertha...
Here it is just as I was getting ready to take it off. I ran the smoker at 300 - 350 most of the time using hickory and some alder wood. The skin was just fine.
Served with fresh green beans, potatoes, and Silver Queen corn all bought that morning at the Farmer's Market. Not a good plated picture as we were running late...had a music festival to get to that was 2 hours away.
The chicken was so moist and juicy. This rub is becoming one of my favorites, although some day, I'll try making my own. I've also never brined before....before I get slammed for not doing so, I will say that I WILL try that next time
Thanks for checking out my chicken!
