They want $36 for replacement flame shields for my Chargriller on ebay. The original parts are porcelain covered steel. It's the first part that has given up on the grill, so I don't care about replacing with OEM parts. Some guys are selling 18 or 20 gauge steel replacements. They are 19" long, have an angle that's wider than angle iron, and the sides are almost 2" long.
I don't know anything about metal working. I was thinking of trying to get angle iron to fit. But if I could get 4"x19" pieces of steel, can I bend them without any special equipment? How thick a piece of stainless can I cut with Aviation snips? I'm thinking of going to a welding place nearby to see what they have. Or should I just buy these off ebay?
Thanks.
