  • Maple wood for smoking?

Just cut down two huge Maple trees.
I see on here its good for smoking but I've heard there
Is a "hard" maple and "soft"
    Mine is supposedley soft.
    Is this still good?
    Any help appreciated!!

Maple is a mild smoke flavor...Nothing wrong with that...

If it was green, split it and let it dry for 6 months.

This time of year, it still has many of the sugars from the sap in the wood, which will give it a nice caramaly flavor.....

I got a bag of maple pellets for my AMNTPS and used up the whole bag for pork. Nice sweet bark. Got some more on order. Not sure about your trees since there are none like that in Vegas, but it's a good sweet wood.

I love maple wood! There are some sugar maples around here that supply the best smoking wood I've ever used.

                      Drinks well with others
