  • new smoker suggestions?

my homemade smoker is a pain to regulate and is heck of a lot larger than i really need. Anywho..looking at stor bought stuff lately. I use propane for a few other projects and would probably stay with that. Any suggestions on that 2-300 dollar range? I see the biggest diff is amount of insulation in doors and sides on most of them. ANy of them i should stay away from?

Why not post up some pics of your "homemade" smoker as it just might need some mods to make it a bit more user friendly. There are plenty of knowledgeable folks here who can help you out

I like my pellet pusher from Char Griller. $400, bigger than a Traeger and half the price. To me, best of both Worlds with a digital controller

Masterbuilt sells electric smokers at Sam's that rock (I have one) & propane smokers are available as well. I suggest getting the largest one that you can afford if $$ is an isssue.

WSM, also known as Weber Smokey Mountain bullet smokers. I have two 18.5's and love them. Also, consider a Weber kettle... a very versatile tool that you can grill and smoke with.

Stay away from Master Forge Electric (POS).
Not sure on the propane side. I hear good things about the Smokein-It, but not laid eyes on one.

I have a Smoke Vault and I can't regulate the temps. It sits around 250* but not lower so it's basically useless for low temp smoking.
Since I cant get it low for jerky or beef sticks I use it as a oven when I don't want to use the one in my house.
