  • Sous Vide Filet

Well, found out today that the wife has a girls night planned, and being as though I'm impatient, ran to the store. Found a nice prime filet in the butcher case, about .7 lbs. Just salt, pepper, granulated garlic. Sous Vide set for 131. Serving it to myself with only some whole baby bellas. Can't wait! No potato or nuthin during the week. Losing weight is hard when you break your diet during the week. Save that for the weekend!

It'll be vodka and water during the Hawks game tonight. This thing is pretty accurate. Dipped the thermapen in the water bath, it reads 130.8. The Anova is set to 131. Very nice!!

Well, holy cow. Sous Vide ran for 3 hours at 131. Took the filet out, dried it off, and reseasoned. Used the drippings and a splash of olive oil to pan fry the bellas. Gave the steak a quick sear on the gasser at 600. Just simply amazing.

Oh my....When this kind of took off on this site, I was a bit indifferent...then I started seeing some incredible posts and was curious about it. I have only one cook under my belt with the SV, but I am a big proponent. After seeing that steak, you should be too.
