  • Frogmore Stew

Frogmore Stew(low country boil) with crab legs added.

    ...Disclaimer...
There were no frogs harmed or killed in the making of this dinner.

The cooking and serving weapons of choice

    And of course..........

The most elegant and sophisticated of eating utensils will be required.

got the pots going. Added in a couple onions, lemons, and limes ( quartered ); 6 cloves of smashed garlic, and crab boil spices. Brought it all up to a boil and then let it simmer for about 1 hour.

Added in the potatoes first, then the sausage, and then the corn. This is just before I added the shrimp and crab.

One of the platters before it all disappeared

A plate I fixed for myself.

    Thanks for lookin'.

        Thanks

I'm just not a real big fan of Old Bay seasoning. It's good for some types of cooks but for boils, I use Zatarain's liquid concentrate or Rex liquid concentrate and add in extra Cayenne pepper and some other spices like extra all spice.
I like Rex liquid concentrate and Cajun spice mixes, but I can't always get it here.

I did a boil with some shrimp and cobs. Wasn't the full blown Frogmore, but it did come out well.

I learnt from a local, that you buy the frozen CoC, and toss that in at the end, kill the heat, and let it soak for 15. The cold corn brings down the heat quick, and lets the shrimp, bugs and crab suck in the cooking liquid and associated spices a bit more....
