  • Yet More Jerky

    Got some more jerky going.

    Shot from this morning.

Didn't realize the flash wasn't on.

Using the Chef Alarm to monitor smoker temp. That thing is nice in that the high and low temp alarms are very easy to set and cancel. Beeper is nice and loud so I can hear it in the house. Stores min and max temps from power on time. Nice solid unit.

Got most of the first batch off now. Had a bit that would not fit the first time finishing currently. I really need to get off my lazy ass and build a bigger jerky smoker. Since half the fam damily wants to give the stuff away as fast as I make it, I need to be able to make more at a time.

Alas, sadly no. A batch like that usually does not make it past Tuesday around here.

Which is why I need to build a bigger jerky smoker.

                Mostly done now.

Just a few stragglers left on the smoker.

All told will be a little over 2 pounds. Started with 5 pounds of top round. Almost no trim to speak of.

Sigh, I need to do bigger batches.

Well if the wife and son have their way I'll be sending vac packs to friends away at college, some for the son's girlfriend . . . who the hell knows who else. Might as well send you some too.

Gonna try and take a good portion of this batch to work.

I shake on some CBP when it's on the smoker. Still would like a bit more pepper flavor though. Have not figured out the best way to do that though.

Thanks. I have used it before, good stuff still have 3 boxes of Hi Mt. To use up, then will order some, and want to try Owens also.

maybe you can "press" the CBP into it by hand? Might stick a little better
