  • Did a little shrimp stir-fry

Two things. First the weather here in Portland sucks ass, so this cook is coming from the kitchen. Secondly due to some health issues a lot more lighter fare, and more grilling. Less of the fatty cuts etc. I still like my big dinners at the end of the day, but they can't be super full of calories. Seafood and vegetables really fill me up and they light in the old calorie department. So all that said I decided on shrimp stir-fry. This whole dish has about 600 calories. I ate the whole thing but it could be enough for two easily if served with some rice.

We start with some onions, peppers, and mushrooms in the old cast iron, cooked in some Pam™ spray.

Then I added about 8oz of raw peeled, De-veined shrimp.

    Then I made a sauce.
    Banana sauce for heat
4 cloves of garlic for savory
1/2 a teaspoon or so of powdered ginger for spice
    Tamari sauce for salt
lastly some apricot jam for sweet.
    Then I served it up...

You get at the Asian market. Fine by itself but I wanted to doctor it up some more with garlic and ginger etc.

But the Wiki thing doesn't mention heat in banana sauce...

We been trying to do a lot more of the low carb eating lately...

It has heat. I could be wrong but in Asian cooking every pepper they use seems to be a hot(or at least warm) pepper. I think the heat comes from the "spices" listed on the ingredient list. It is slightly less hot than say a jalapeno. The heat profile is comparable to Tiger Sauce.
