  • Labeling your cheese

I found a free program for business cards that I use to make up a page of labels for the cheese I smoke. On the label I have the date smoked, type of cheese and woods, my name some sort of other message. If you print on a sheet of mactac the cards are self adhesive and can include clipart and a logo.

Nice post out of the gate Smoke.

Had to look up the definition of mactac (sticky labels). Great idea for
      Jerky as well.

I know word can print to some labels, but never thought about it.
Where does one find this "free" (I like free) program?

Have to throw some points out there for a great idea.

We grew up with "mactac" all over our kitchens in the late 60's and 70's. Faux wood print is the best!

I use Excel on typical cheap adhesive address labels.

With Excel, you can scale up/down vertical and horizontal to fit any size label.

There are many different ways you can do this, depending on the software you already have. My iPad had a program called Pages that has many different templates for documents. Within Microsoft office, Excel and Word were mentioned. I believe I have 2 or 3 other MS products that will make basic cards and print 8-12 on one sheet of paper. You can go cheap Charlie and just tape them to your cheese stick or buy self adhesive label paper. Once you work out a design, you can edit it and save under a different name like cheddar, swift, pepper jack.

WARNING: The National Home Budget General has determined that smoking can be hazardous to your pocket book and waistline. Shopping for sales, eating in moderation, avoiding glutinous binges, and gifting you cheese, jerky and smoked salmon is for woosies.

More beer, more smoke, more single malt Scotch I say!

I buy packs of labels from the poundshop. 14 on a page, 15 sheets in a pack and I've made a publisher template.
Pretty much the only thing I use publisher for :-)
