Been building these two this week. Each has three grates. The bottom one is for a water pan or heat diffuser. Here they are almost ready for paint...
Had to put metal strips on top to get the lids to fit well. Welded, then sealed with JB Weld against any pinholes. One lid is a Weber, one a Uniflame. Both were free.
Firebaskets...the ash catchers are $3 pizza pans from Wally World...
Painted. Stanley inspects the job...
First heatup. Loaded 9 pounds coals in each, fire lasted for 6 hours at 250-300...
The cheapo Uniflame lid has one advantage. When paired with 2 1" L-brackets, it can hinge!
We're gonna try them out with some ribs in them Labor Day weekend. These are the nicest ones yet, incorporating the ball valve, Big Belly valve handle mod, 4 inlets, and the 3 grates, as well as casters. Relatively expensive lil devils to build, even with free barrels and lids. Thanks for looking.
