  • HOt Italian Hoagie and a ? with pics

Several had asked for a cooked shot with our sgetti supper but Sandy had de-cased and made meat sauce. Not much good for Qview! Tonight I decided to surprise my wife with one of her favorite sandwiches normally found at a local pizza joint. The ingredients are simple: Red and green bell pepper and onion sautéed in EVOO, hoagie or other suitable bread like Italian or French, mozzarella cheese and Shooters homemade Hot Italian Sausage. The mozzarella was cheap but on hand so that’s the stuff I used. Sandy now says she will never eat one of these anywhere else again. I may have screwed up!

The Italian girl next door wants to buy this sausage from me. What do I charge per lb?

Nice sammy! As far as selling, I have sold at $4.50Lb for smaller quans, $3.50 for 10 Lb batches. Not cheap, but worth it, And not out of line with high quality processed meat products either.

Looks great Shooter..... Sausage like that in my area is about $4 - $5 a pound. The chicken sausage stuffed with goodies is about $5 - $6 a pound.

Great looking sammich. Sounds like your sausage making is gonna give you beer money. Win-win in my book.

I make sausages for guys at work. My rules are; you buy the meat and I keep half. Same way I do deer, elk, bear, etc, etc snak stix and jerky. You provide the meat, I keep half. My smoker is usually pretty full.
It's to the point where I have little time to hunt myself, because I'm always making snak stix or jerky for other people. But I rarely run out.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Great looking sammies. Think I'll make some this week too.

If it were me, I'd just give her the sausage for free but since were talkin bout yours, you'll likely be better off selling it by the ounce...

Lesson you got good math skills.....

                Nice sammies dude!

Actually it is her dad who wants 10 lbs to start at 4.50 a lb. Being a good Italian Catholic family I have to draw the line somewhere as their family is huge. The Itatian girl and her hubby eat free when I smoke on a regular basis and get free samples often. Dad will just have to pay for the sausage I think.
