Hey all,
Scored a very solid but heavily rusted shop built smoker. Very heavy and very well put together. About 36" X16" with offset fire box. It has not rusted
through anywhere but it is heavily covered.
Would appreciate any tips and tricks to remove the rust and to inhibit further rusting.
Is sanding and scraping the only thing to do or is there a more efficient method to try.
Should the grates be painted after removing the rust or will vegetable oil coat them enough to stop the rusting.
Should a primer coat be applied or is the high heat paint only sufficient.
Construction of it is great but it has been neglected for many years and its going to be a project to restore the critter.
TIA for any suggestions and/or ideas to clean this guy up.
Jac
