Hey! Its nearly 40 degrees outside so I decided to scrape the snow off of Rusty and smoke some nuts.
I guess now we know why she's rusty, eh.
A pound of almonds done similar to Dawns recipie but with the addition of some dried hot peppers to the brine. And a pound of pecans with a butter and spice coating. Ill post the recipie if anyone wants to see it. Smoked with hickory. There's nothing better than the smell of hickory on a crisp winter day.
About an hour and a half and the pecans were done.
Another half hour and the almonds were ready to come in. By that time the pecans were almost gone.
This was just a trial run. Especially on the pecans. First try for them. We'll give these away at Christmas so I gotta perfect the process. Dang I love the experimenting...
