  • Grill Lite

Theres more than one way to recycle an old grill. I been cooking in the dark, well at least with the porch light which is 30' away, for way too long. Had a rusty old smokey joe sitting around, a CL freebee, and figured why not I'll use it a few times a week if it lites up. So I scavenged a light socket and an old extension cord and threw it together. The only parts I dident have were the bulb, 150W halogen, and the shelf hangers. Now I can see just how much I need to clean the crud out of the inside of the poor man's performer.

Sweeet!... Nice work, looks like it lights up pretty good too. And the grate will keep the squirrels from stealing your light bulb. :)

That's pretty cool. Now line the inside with foil, shiny side out, and it will really light things up.

I thought of that too, but then I also thought foil went better with BBQ.

I thought about painting it white, and the fire grate black, but I think I'll see how well it works when the smoke is rolling, besides I'm pretty cheap. Thats why I'v been cooking by the porch light for 3 years.

Great Idea but I guess it depends on the size of the smoker. I mean how many light bulbs would you install in a Lang 84 and what structure to hang it on. Just kidding as I think it is a great idea.
