  • Chicken -n- the Lodge w/ Hot Rice

Had a 5 pound chicken and simmered 45 minutes with onion, garlic, celery and some herbs...picked her clean.Put the leftovers out for the Fox....

Squished the stock thru food mill and then made a roux with the fat..Then added the chicken stock...

Like to spice up my rice.Used my cayene, but any flaked pepper will do....Just add to some olive oil before water and rice...Oil releases some extra chile punch..

    The Lodge Pot...

    Added some softened celery,carrots,onion,peas..Blah-Blah....

Supposed to get another 6 inches snow...This will work for lunch tomorrow after dinner...

                          Hey Alex,

What a great comfort food meal. Spice up the rice like that and I'm all over it...a great combo.

Yep, that'll be a great meal after shoveling all that snow. You guys been getting beat up this year and we haven't had much at all(so far).

Love that enamel coat cast iron cookware. A question for you on the Lodge stuff. Is the lid handle made of a material that can go into the oven?
