  • Digging in my junk....

Tried making a smoke generator out of 2" pipe and fittings, didn't work real good. Went through my dumpster diving stuff and came up with this.

It's an unused chemical pot feeder. Didn't have to do anything but screw in some nipples and throw in the wood chips.
I think it going to be a winner.

Holy Cow Etcher...Now you only need to figure how to dial it back a bit...Besides, it looks pretty cool, almost like some sort of pipe bomb / rocket or something.

      Really cool.

If you want to control the smoke, go to the same place you bought the aquarium pump and pick up an in-line valve for it. This will allow you to control the amount of air that is pumped into the generator. Nice job!!

Pretty cool smoke generator. What do you plan to hook it up to? Can you throttle the smoke, or is it wide open all the time?

Again, pretty cool rig made from throw aways.

Dang Etcher... with that you don't need a cabinet to cold smoke, just hang the meat on the clothes line...

It does work good if you can dial it back some...

Just what is a chemical pot feeder?

We used pot feeders on boilers ta add an maintain the chemicals to prevent corrosion. Ya dump the chemical in there so ya don't have ta shut down the system to add em.

Here some pics on some cheese, It was such a cool smoke it didn't hardly heat the cheese. Outside temp was about 42°
Usually I do cheese on my ECB, this is an experiment on smoke box size.

It came out fair, but I will probably put more charcoal mixed in with the wood chips so it will run a little warmer.
