  • Sourdough King Cake 4 All You Saint's Fans

Always wanted to make one of these and decided that in light of the Saint's SB victory and Mardi Gras, what better time to do it than now. I'm not a Saint's fan but what the heck, I'm definitely a Mardi Gras fan. For a short history of King Cake go here.

    The recipe came from here.

I stole a bag of Cheryl's homemade apple pie filling and added cream cheese frosting to it for cake filling. Just a coincidence that I had the same star shaped sprinkles that they used in the recipe.

So here it is before the drizzle.

Looks like my drizzle separated. Huh, don't know what happened there.

    WOW, this stuff tastes fantastic!

Nice. Did you make two like the recipe says, or one big one? What kind of pan did you use to bake it in? I'm not seeing what type of pan to use in the recipe.

I made 2. Honestly the other one didn't turn out quite as nice. It had a blow out.
I baked them on tiles, no pan, but I did put a Pyrex bowl upside down in the middle to hold the shape. And no bean or baby. I have enough health problems without adding a choking hazard to the line-up.
