  • Honey Brown Sugar Almonds

Had the smoker going today so I thought I would try some almonds again. I took a pound af almonds, layed them out on a tray and hit with a little kosher salt.

Into the smoker about 40 minutes, then put in a bowl, stirred in some honey and brown sugar til coated. Buttered the tray then back into the smoker for about 10 more minutes until the brown sugar was melting. Pulled back out and stirred as they cooled to keep them from sticking.

A nice snack to munch on while I was cooking.

    Adam,

Nice looking nuts you have there. Just reminded me that I had a friend drop a lb of em off for me to smoke for them.

    Thanks for the reminder

Nice job, Adam. They look really good. I'll have to give it a try the next time I do almonds.

Dawn, I buttered the tray before laying the almonds back out for the second stint in the smoker. I did not have a single one stick. It worked much better than when I sprayed it with PAM last time. Might work for your recipes too?

I am with eman, give us some more details. Looks like a great snack, better than chips and dip probably. Ideal for an all nighter anyhow.

Sorry guys, I guess I left some stuff out. Since I had the smoker going for a fattie, abts, and other stuff-these got smoked at about 230F. I used cherry and pecan. They smoked for about 40 minutes then coated in honey & brown sugar. Then smoked for about another 10 minutes to let the brown sugar melt. Pulled out then stirred as they cooled to help keep them from sticking.

They were good. Definately a nice snack with a beer while I tended the smoker. My daughter was snacking on them too, so they must be pretty good.
