  • Honky-Crocker™ Sourdough Banaynay Bread

I can't say that I have left over starter. Ever. I keep it on the counter and feed it daily, with the intentions to use it weekly. Banana bread yesterday and boob-berry muffins today. All involving the sourdough starter. Quick breads they are. As there is no required rise times. Just mix it and stick it...in the oven!

    Mashed ripe bananas

2/3 C butter flavored shortening,2 C sugar and 2 eggs creamed. I doubled this recipe. One recipe would be half of the latter.

Sourdough starter in its one gallon container

    Bananas, creamed shortening and starter

2 C flour baking soda, baking powder, salt and orange zest accompanied by my wifes nuts...lmao

    mixed

These are champagne candied walnuts, that my wife makes. They are spectacular alone and they are awesome in the bread as well!

    Stirred in

2-5x9 loaf pans filled. Singled recipe makes only one loaf. Baked mid rack in me electric oven at 370° for 50 minutes.

Sorry 'bout the dark picture. Mmm so yummy 'n sweet!

Damn cooled these 15 min. before attempting to un-mount the loaves. One done got stucked. It ain't as purtty as the other, but it will eat just the same.
Thank you for loafing around my bread thread

That's some pretty bread, Ryan! I can't use my starter that often or I'd weigh 400 pounds. I do try to use it about every two weeks though. Keep the ideas coming.

                Looks GREAT!

I'd take a couple of slices of that with a bunch of butter.

any chance she could let you post the recipe, pretty please :-)

                            Like the banana bread too.
But anything that will make walnuts edible is good for me.

The chinese deep fry them and then caramelise with sugar. man those are good, but a real pain to make.

Have to try this sourdough thing at some point - wonder if you need a licence to grow that kind of beast over here
