Saw this on Craigslist and thought it might fit someones needs. I'd jump on it if it were mobile.

My smoker appears to be a cheap knockoff of that pit. I bought it at Academy for $800. Marketed as "Outdoor Gourmet" brand.:noidea:

http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr267/kingudaroad/smoker/002.jpg

Some things I really like about the design...

The vertical cabinet is great for sausage and bacon.
http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr267/kingudaroad/bacon/bacon019.jpg

I have smoked in the vertical cabinet from 59 degrees to 300f.

You can add wood from the top of the firebox.
http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr267/kingudaroad/qview008.jpg

After you heat up the smoker, you can burn a large fire with the lid of the firebox open, then close it when the fire burns down to coals, maintaining smoker temp the whole time.

You can grill on top of the firebox
http://i490.photobucket.com/albums/rr267/kingudaroad/venison%20tenders/venisontenders008.jpg

I can get the horizontal chamber up above 500 with a roarin fire, and it works great for pizzas.

Some other notes...
The vertical on mine runs about 60% the temp of the horizontal during normal smoking however this can be altered by inceasing/decreasing airflow or putting a tuning plate( I use a cookie sheet) at a particular spot in the horizontal chamber. With my cookie sheet, I can get the entire smoker pretty close to the same temp.

Tuning plates may be required to keep the horizontal chamber from getting too hot at the firebox end.

Hope this helped! Congrats Rich.:thumb: I think you got a smokin deal!

Wow... Thanks Keith! I assume I have a bit of a learning curve... Klose says the vert will run 100 or so below the horz. which...ehh... I'd LOVE the option of having it all run tight if I could. Will toy with the baffle idea... you da MAN!

Your welcome Rich. Only bad thing is, when you steal the heat from the horizontal and turbo it into the vertical, it will really eat through some sticks.

You gotta love the versatility though:thumb:
