  • Traeger Users Here?... A Little Input Please?

I personally, have a MES electric, which is perfect for my lifestyle currently, but would like to mess around with a WSM and or a stick burner, in the future, if I get more free time.... Question is, a buddy of mine, whose son is friends with mine & I talk a lot of cooking & grilling & smoking & drinking & sports @ sporting events. He just got a big stainless grill for Christmas & now is talking about a smoker & he brought up the Traeger's as ones he has been looking at & likes. Everything I have heard from people that own them has been all positive so far, with the exception of the "heating" control having only 3 positions on some models & I think they have a digital control on some of them now?..... NOT SURE.... But there is a person that sells them new on Craigslist, about 80 miles away from me & charges no tax.. ?... But says they are new & have a factory warranty & everything. I will include the links.... Just kinda curious what some of your thoughts were that I could relay to him on them..... Thanks in advance!

No time for a drum at this stage in life........ I got it nice -n- easy, right where I want it.... I sacrifice some taste that I miss from wood or charcoal & no smoke ring, but thats about it.... He's got 3 kids in sports, year 'round & about the only time he's got to BBQ/Smoke is Sat/Sun & that's typically after some sort of sporting event.... So he's looking for simple.... (set it up in the morning, it takes care of its self all day, come home after whatever & its done & ready to go).... Just ease of use.... that's all.

Check out this website for more info. Traeger went to china for manufacturing, and are losing a lot of loyal customers and dealers.

If serial # of the unit starts with "C" ... it's from China.

What's with all this lazy talk?? Gotta work for good Q!!

Just kidding. I LOVE my drum but after reading your Set and Forget Ribs post, I can see where the MES or a Treager would really come in handy. The drum does extremely well unattended but it takes a little longer to drag everything together, get it loaded, lit, and stabilized then your MES, that's for sure.

Been using my Traeger for almost three years and we enjoy all the great BBQ it produces.

Traeger went to China? That was a brilliant move.
