  • Killer Kraut

Wow, put this together as a topper for my post St Patrick's Day reuben sammies and had to share the recipe it was so good.

    In stockpot over medium heat
First saute shredded onions in butter until they soften up a bit.
Add a peeled, shredded granny smith apple and saute until soft.
    Next add drained, rinsed sauerkraut.
Add white wine as liquid to top of kraut and reduce, stirring often.
Add brown sugar, salt, and CBP CRP to taste.

Use for a sammie topper, or
Add smoked, grilled polish sausage chunks and simmer in a crock pot.

Dang!! Where'd you get my recipe?!

Truly, that is the exact ingredients that I use, except I use a beer instead of the wine... Great minds think alike! I'll try it with the wine next time!

That looks like exactly what I need for my menu, , only problem is, I don't even know how to make the Kraut itself. Is it store bought? Been lookin for a good recipe to do from scratch. Nice job, that.
