In the spirit of Hockey's greatest team, I decided to go a batch of wings on saturday. The wings turned out very tasty, and the game was one of this years tightest games.
Red Wings win 1-0 in an 11 round OT shootout!
As always, I am trying new sauces. I was out of honey, so I improvised the best i could. I cut up the wings and rinsed, patted dry and then coated lightly with smokin gun's hot rub.
Fired up the drum, and let her roll up to 350. Spread the wings out on the grate and dusted another real light layer of the rub. Hot smoked/grilled em for 25 minutes, turned all the pieces and cooked another 20 minutes.
While they were cookin, I made up a simple sauce, just off the top of my head kinda!
1/3 cup Sriracha sauce
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup apple juice
4 TSB butter
2/3 cup Famous daves zesty BBQ sauce.
heated it up and simmered for 10-15 minutes.
so after the 45 minute cook time, I dunked the wings and let them drip on the grate for a few minutes.
Back onto the drum they went at 300 degrees for 15 minutes. One more dunk, and on for 15 minutes and into the bowl. Game is about to start!
There was 32 wings when the game started. I love wings, but after the first period, I had 12 left over. I couldn't eat another bite. They were really good, If I had some honey, I would have used 1/2 as much brown sugar and 1/4 cup of honey with it.
