I have one part of garden that my dream was to be a woodland garden and I wanted nothing in it if it didn't grow in the forest. I started this project about 3 years ago and ordered several bare root Cinnamon ferns. When I emptied the bag and inspected the roots there was one that didn't look like the others, but I planted it anyway.
The plant came up the next spring and had only 3 leaves and to me it looked like a trillium, which is another woodland wild flower that I would not mind having in the garden but it never bloomed. For the past 3 years the plant came up with the 3 leaves and never bloomed.
The other day I was poking around in the garden and noticed this year it has bloomed and it was definitely not what I thought but something better! A Jack in the Pulpit!! These are pretty rare in our forest, and I got so excited when I saw it. These can grow up to 2 feet tall, but this one is very tiny. The bloom is probably the size of my pinky. I'm sure it was grow bigger each year.
And my lilies are starting to bloom, too. Never fails...they bloom every year when we go on vacation and I miss some of them.
The pink ones always bloom first
Thanks for looking
