I bought Jeff's recipes when I first found the Send Money Fast. Anyway, I thought the rub sucked. REALLY hot without any special "Hell Yes". But it is where I found all of you too. I've seen and read all the posts about Ritch's rub and didn't think to bother for some time. But after the "Jeff's Sauce and..." post I finally decided to jump into the water, or drip pan or bucket of soaking chunks, whatever you wanna call it and give it a try. Anyway I just placed my order for a lb of the Mad Hunky. Price for the rub was ok. Hope it's worth it plus the shipping. Looking forward to giving it a try. I've lately been a fan of the PlowBoy's Bovine Bold. Good stuff too. Happy Memorial Day smokes to everyone. I'm doing a 15lb brisket, 2 slabs of Honduran spare ribs, and a 9 lb butt for our party here at the lake. Too bad the MH wont be here in time, but I'm sure we'll get by

Never tried Jeffs ....I do like richs rub.....and i make 90% of my own stuff since store-bought tend not to be my flavor profile........

Haven't tried Mad Hunky yet but have heard nothing but good.
I use my chipotle rub on everything and have wanted to get some MH but damn I love me rub...
Maybe Rich and I need to do an exchange...:whistle:

But yeah, from everyone who has tried it that I know they love it.
Plus the label is Fing smooth looking.

Yes, shipping is a PITA- I probably COULD save some cost by shipping parcel post by weight... (slower service) which would entail me getting boxes (free with flat rate) and weighing shipment (don't matter with flat rate). And save maybe $2 tops.

I feel neither of our time is worth it.

As a sidelight- once again...your BEST deal considering shipping is 1.5 lbs... will fit in small box. Your WORST deal is 2 lbs! Has to go medium box. If you want more than 1.5 lbs- see if you can "go in" with someone. 2 lbs costs the same as at least 10 lbs in shipping!

And...as you rub makers know- there is no way to make a rub with quality ingredients for the price of MH rub- even including shipping. Well...unless you grow all the ingredients ;{)

As the person who paid the most postage (it certainly travelled the furthest lol) - I'll concur rich's rub is good stuff.

had it on ribs, rump steak, added it to various dishes.

Just a good general purpose seasoning and flavouring concoction :thumb:

I bought Jeff's recipes when I first joined SMF two years ago. Never really cared much for the rub. I really like Rich's though. Jeff's sauce sounds good by the recipe but I've never bothered to make it. I just use Sweet Baby Ray's on those rare occacions when I (my wife :lol:) wants sauce.
