As I posted in an earlier thread, the Klose has a hot spot at the firebox end... and that's to be expected. I got to thinking that a baffle was in order, so I grabbed one of my chaffing pans and used it as a pattern... Here's my first attempt to level out that hotspot.
On a side note, back in my younger years, I used to own a '67 Chevy panel van, that was a retired Bell Telephone work van. Long story short, I customized it, and in the process, I ended up with sheet metal panels from where I cut out the holes for windows. It was a real chick magnet, let me tell you... Anywho, I used the metal (that I kept for MANY years) to make this baffle... here ya' go:
The pattern... a full sized aluminum chaffing pan:
The sacrificial Chevy sheet metal cut and bent:
Fitted and in place:
Another view:
Yet another view:
BasicLee, it just sits up against the existing baffle, and extends into the cooking chamber, resting on the main chamber walls. No welds, bolts, or nuts... well maybe one nut... me. I'll be trying it out this weekend... stay tuned...
Thanks for looking!!
