How thick of steel should I use for the reverse flow sheet in the 500 gallon propane tank be. I am talking the plate that runs in to end with a gap at the opposite side from the fire box. I am thinking 1/8 inch is that to thick to thin?

That will work, Thicker is better tho.. So if you have 3/16" available go for it

Mine is 1/8 inch and warped the first time I used the smoker. At some point I will probably cut it apart and switch it over to 1/4 inch plate. I am not looking forward to it though.

          Reverse Flow Plate

I used 1/4" steal plate on my Smoker and have no problem.....Look at the photo I posted ....The thread is "Ultimate Big Iron Smoker"...I have one photo showing the plate in the bottom of the cooking chamber. If you want, I have photo's I took while building my smoker that will probably be helpful to you and I'm more than glad to share with you...Send me an email if your interested.
