We celebrated my parent's 50th wedding anniversary on May 23 with a family reunion type of get together, and I did a special cake for them. It was a 12 X 10 X 6. All traditional white cake with white wedding cake icing. The cake is a modified recipe for store bought cake mix and the icing I made from scratch. Mom and Dad loved it.
My sister and brother also worked very hard. We had TONS of wonderful food. We rented a pavilion at a local Audubon society wildlife sanctuary and brought in tables and chairs.
I used all white icing for decorations and made roses for the bottom borders of all cakes, and accented the cake with gold ribbon. Here we are putting the top cake in place. I'm holding the cake and my niece (with the bright nails) is getting the columns straight and in place.
Cake table finished. The laptop we had a slide show playing with lots of pictures from over the years. And on the right is my Mom and Dad on their wedding day.
The picture of the 3 kids is my sister, me and my brother. I'm the little one in the middle.
I also smoked 2 butts for the party. I did this a couple of days before the party on my electric using hickory. I re-heated the morning of the party in the crock pot with no problems.
One butt was a little over 8.5 lbs. The other was around 7.5 pounds. Slathered in mustard and rubbed with Plow Boys and Perk up your Pork.

I didn't get any pulled or plated pics of the pork because I was just too busy with everything else, but here it is in the crock pot at the party.
I got several compliments from guest that it was the best BBQ that they ever had.

We had about 47 adults and 13 kids there. It was a beautiful day and everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship.

Congrats to Mom and Dad, I am a huge fan of cake and that one looks fantastic, box up any leftovers and FedEx it to me please
