It is time my make my own bbq sauce or well try.

I need somewhere to start guys. I like the honey bbq sauces the sweet not really spicy kind. I normally use sweet baby rays 99.99999% of the time.

So does anyone have a sweet honey bbq recipe I can start with

You may want to start with a KC style sauce.. It is a sweet sauce.. toy with this sauce and change it to suit your needs..

1 1/4 cup ketchup
1 cup water
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
2 TBS molasses or Honey
1 TBS onion powder
1 TBS garlic powder
1 TBS black pepper
1 Tsp celery salt
1 Tsp allspice
1 Tsp cayenne

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan over a medium heat... Stir constantly for 5 minutes.. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.. Sauce should be thick... Allow to cool.. Keep in frig...

Something I've enjoyed in a BBQ sauce is to add a whole small onion (diced) and about half a lemon, thinly thinly sliced and diced and simer that w/ the other ingredients for a while. Then strain it at the end. I'd bet it'd be good w/ orange for a sweeter kick too.

Another KC style BBQ sauce; this one is really sweet

2 cups water
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup tomato paste
1/2 cup white vinegar
3 TBS molasses
3 TBS brown sugar
1 TSP liquid smoke
1/2 TSP salt
1/4 TSP onion powder
1/4 TSP black pepper
1/8 TSP garlic powder

combine in pan and mix well
over medium to high heat bring to a boil
lower heat and simmer for 1 hour stir occassionally
longer you simmer, the thicker it gets
