-1 16 oz. can ( I think they are 16 oz. anyway... the bog ones) of your desired pie filling. I prefer cherry, peach, or blueberry, but i'm sure just about any would do.
-1/2 box of white, yellow, or other desired dry cake mix. once again, i'm sure just about any would do.
-1 stick of butter/margarine. I prefer the latter, but to each his own.
    -1 9" pie pan/plate.

1.) Take your can-o-fruit, and empty it into your pie plate.
2.) Take your box of cake mix and sprinkle on about 1/2 of it over the top of your newly created plate-o-fruit.
3.) take your stick-o-butter and slice it into chunks, about 1/2 tablespoon pats. place the pats-o-butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.
4.) place the plate-o-deliciousness into the oven at 350 F for about 30 minutes or until your fruit starts to boil a little bit.
5.) after the fruit boils a little along the edges, turn the broiler on and DON'T WALK AWAY!!!
6.) watch the crust... after it starts to brown, shut down the oven and pull it out. it will continue to cook a little bit on it's own. if you wait until it's "perfect" in the oven, it will be burnt on the plate.

if all goes acordding to plan, you end up with this little piece-o-heven:

if not, you end up with charcoal. lol

That actually looks and sound pretty good

Might just have to give that a try. I know the wife has the market cornered on that fruit stuff as well as the cake mix LOL.

Good chit right there... Same premise as Dump Cake.. Though you use a 13x9 pan for that and all the cake mix..

Simple easy and best of all... GOOD!

        Thanks for the recipe

thanks guys. we used to make these in "man-scouts" (boy-scouts to "outsiders") over the coals in metal pie tins... this is a little more civilized, consistant, and cleaner, but still tastey.

I make almost the exact recipe in my Dutch ovens. Only thing I do differently is to sprinkle a little cinnamon over the cake batter.

Off memory, I think it was 7 coals under & 14 over for 350* in a 10" DO.
