  • Ants -- nothing is working

Ants! Tired of them. Tried everything this year, Terro, cayenne pepper, instant grits, Ortho junk, brake fluid/charcoal lighter down the holes and igniting. They just keep coming back and get worse each time. Serious critters they are. Its an invasion.

      Hey David,

I know you have probably read till you are blue in the face, but this is one of the better articles that I read...

Personally, I use dursban. I know, I know...it's banned, to which I say you know why they banned it...CAUSE IT FREAKIN' WORKS! Still have about a quart of concentrate left. Heck, I'd use DDT or agent orange if I could get my hands on a gallon or two.

One thing in the article above, is that patience is a virtue if using some of the baits like Terro, as it can take a couple of weeks for results.

I also haveuse a banned product called Diazinon. You could try this but it aint cheap, but alittle goes along way. I bought a bottle a few years ago for a whole house spray to keep ants, hornets and spiders out.

I finally surrendered and hired a service for $35 month - we were overrun with them and since I hired the service we have not had any for 2 years - They also all but eliminated the brown spider invasion we had.

Tried that to. They built their nest in the middle of it.

Terro has been out since May, I think it is feeding them.

DDT, Agent Orange? If only I could get some. Our local lumber yard had Dursban, but the lumber yard was bought out earlier this year. When they re-opened most of the good stuff like Dursban was all gone. They said that they were ordered to get rid of their remining stock left from previous owner. Dursban has an odor and so does all the stuff that works that you can't get anymore. But these ants are so bad, who cares about a little odor. I would mix some of stuff as weak as I could and use it inside anyhow. No joke, along the island wall where the sink is on the bar side of it along the floor there is a solid black line. Thats not a marker line, thats a strea, of ants eating up the terro I put on little wooden strips to keep it off the floor. This is a sad situation.

Ran into an exterminator. He told me ants are super bad this year. The EPA got rid of the good stuff. So what they are using is hit or miss.
