So the computer side of things is dead at the moment. last couple of weeks of school holidays, not unexpected. Hoping it'll pick up in september.
Right thinks I, I'll do some sausage development work. Got an idea for a big sliceable sausage I wanted to do. Mix of my garlic sausage combined with coarse ground sweet cured shoulder.
Get the grinder out, change the plate from very coarse to very fine and discover - no blade !
Then I remembered, I lost the blade a couple of weeks ago when I was making turkey snack sausage. It never turned up in the washing up. I figured it was in the sausage meat bowl and it would turn up when I stuffed the sausages.
Promptly forgot all about it, and it wasn't in the sausage meat.
We've practically spring cleaned the kitchen this morning looking for it.
Not in the kitchen.
Only conclusion: it got thrown away with the waste bits from the turkey leg and thighs the same day I minced the meat.
And yes the main bin's been emptied since then.
Also, having kept the receipt and manual in the grinder box for the last 3 1/2 years, I took it out a while ago to see if I could order different grinder plates and neglected to put the manual back, and obviously I can't find that now either. So have also lost any details that might have contained.
Hence the 'bloody bollocks !' :-)
There's no model number on the box (although just realised there should be on the grinder somewhere). It's a bifinett 550 watt mincer/grinder.
Bifinett are an umbrella company that produce many of lidl's electrical goods. The actual manufacturers could be anybody.
Cannot find anything online for bifinett spares.
Currently waiting for email response from lidl - but given it was bought 4 years ago, don't hold out too much hope.
I've looked online for standard grinder blades and none of them look like the one it uses.
Any ideas welcome - despite only costing about $45 this is too good a unit to abandon for the lack of something as simple as a grinder blade. But without any size spec, don't know how to go about getting a replacement.
What's worse lidl had grinders in a week or so back. Only 250watt but only £30 ($45) still. I was going to get one as an emergency backup - but didn't :-(
No I don't know why lidl special offer grinders are so cheap - they come with 3 year warranties and seem to be as good as anything costing 5 times the price. It's just how lidl sell specials :-)
The whole thing really is very annoying.
So learn from this idiots tale - if you can't find any parts from your grinder after making sausage - look in the bin !
Any thoughts on where to go from here would be welcome.
And tom, can't use the hand grinder for this stuff as it really does need to be ground mostly frozen, hand grinder just won't do it.
