  • bloody bollocks !

So the computer side of things is dead at the moment. last couple of weeks of school holidays, not unexpected. Hoping it'll pick up in september.

Right thinks I, I'll do some sausage development work. Got an idea for a big sliceable sausage I wanted to do. Mix of my garlic sausage combined with coarse ground sweet cured shoulder.

Get the grinder out, change the plate from very coarse to very fine and discover - no blade !

Then I remembered, I lost the blade a couple of weeks ago when I was making turkey snack sausage. It never turned up in the washing up. I figured it was in the sausage meat bowl and it would turn up when I stuffed the sausages.
Promptly forgot all about it, and it wasn't in the sausage meat.

We've practically spring cleaned the kitchen this morning looking for it.
    Not in the kitchen.
Only conclusion: it got thrown away with the waste bits from the turkey leg and thighs the same day I minced the meat.
And yes the main bin's been emptied since then.

Also, having kept the receipt and manual in the grinder box for the last 3 1/2 years, I took it out a while ago to see if I could order different grinder plates and neglected to put the manual back, and obviously I can't find that now either. So have also lost any details that might have contained.
Hence the 'bloody bollocks !' :-)

There's no model number on the box (although just realised there should be on the grinder somewhere). It's a bifinett 550 watt mincer/grinder.
Bifinett are an umbrella company that produce many of lidl's electrical goods. The actual manufacturers could be anybody.

Cannot find anything online for bifinett spares.
Currently waiting for email response from lidl - but given it was bought 4 years ago, don't hold out too much hope.

I've looked online for standard grinder blades and none of them look like the one it uses.

Any ideas welcome - despite only costing about $45 this is too good a unit to abandon for the lack of something as simple as a grinder blade. But without any size spec, don't know how to go about getting a replacement.

What's worse lidl had grinders in a week or so back. Only 250watt but only £30 ($45) still. I was going to get one as an emergency backup - but didn't :-(
No I don't know why lidl special offer grinders are so cheap - they come with 3 year warranties and seem to be as good as anything costing 5 times the price. It's just how lidl sell specials :-)

The whole thing really is very annoying.

So learn from this idiots tale - if you can't find any parts from your grinder after making sausage - look in the bin !

Any thoughts on where to go from here would be welcome.

And tom, can't use the hand grinder for this stuff as it really does need to be ground mostly frozen, hand grinder just won't do it.

Sorry Alex those brand names don't ring a bell with me. Don't think I've ever heard of them before. I'm thinkin a whole new unit may be in order. Best of luck.

I found links to manuals for two grinders, both of which are 550 watts. Perhaps one has the same internals as your version?

      KH 3461 Profi Meat Grinder

The website isn't full of info. But they list this company as the service provider. Perhaps they have they can identify your machine and have the part?

I would buy a commercial grinder that used std. size blades and fittings. so if you need a 4mm #22 grinding plate then you just find the cheapest place to sell it

well if it's any help it's pretty much identical to kens.
Again bifinett just resell under their brand name, it's a lidl name.

But the unit itself will have been sold worldwide under different brands.
Which is half the problem lol

Actually - ken, what's the knife on your grinder look like ?
I know when I've seen the grinder it looked the same - but don't recall seeing the knife on yours.

If I had dimensions I could probably get one made up easily enough.

Far as buying anew unit goes, just coughed up £135 for a new slicer - more on that when it arrives - so I'd rather not have to pay out for another complete grinder just now lol.

Alex, I think I have the same grinder as Ken (Northern Tool) not sure who actually makes it, but I can put up some pics and or scan the spec page or schematic if its in the box & email them to you if you would like?.. Let me know.

Ain't those knives pretty universal? Get out yer mic and give us a shaft dimention. I bet it's pretty standard- what, about a half inch square?

well lidl have given me acontact phone number for the service company. After 2 days phoning - it's always engaged, just found an email address off the website. See if I get any more luck from that.
Shaft dimension, square bit where the blade sits is 8mm - 0.315 inches

Since I've been grinding stuff semi frozen, the end where it fits ionto the motor jaws has worn, rounded the corners and eventually it just kept slipping and would not grind. Damn thing has so much torque it kept going and burred the shaft end lol
                Here's the fix - works perfectly :-)

found this through a google search looking for something else lol
                  Update.

I bought a new grinder, which workd great until earlier this year when i over did it and the internal gears broke.
Now, would you believe it but the blades from the new grinder also fit the old grinder. Plus iut came with 2 !
So the biffinet is now back to being my main grinder - and I cut the frozen meat a little thinner these days :-)
