OK, I admit it...I have had a problem. Every time I go on a trip or cook somewhere other than my own kitchen, my knives have ended up at the bottom of my kitchen box, rattling around. I hate this, and have made some off the cuff remarks about my expensive knives getting messed up. A box arrived the other day, and Mrs. Engineer had been teasing me that I was getting a birthday week present early (yes...around our house it is birthday week...Mrs. Engineer's idea).
I open the box to find a kick arse knife holder...check it out!
It is like a tackle / tool box. Stack On is the brand...
Open the lid and there is a lift out tray that is perfect for all of the necessary tools...basting brush, can opener, bear paws, tongs, and a matching super fast red thermapen
Lift out the tray, and in the bottom of this thing is a knife holder that is pretty cool...the knife blades are cradled in between a plastic material.
Small paring knives will still fit...the handle snaps into the holder too...
And everything lifts out and is dishwasher safe...I could stick the whole thing in the dishwasher if it got skanky (technical BBQ term there). THIS IS SWEET!
Gotta love that Mrs. Engineer...beautiful, talented, and feeds my BBQ addiction.
