  • Cast Iron & G.I. Joe

Not a garage saler, but was driving through the neighborhood & spotted a pile of Cast Iron cookware.....Got 6 pieces & a G. I. Joe for $20..... The 12" is a Lodge & the 11" is a Benjamin & Medwin.... The 4 other smaller ones are made in Taiwan..... They all are in pretty good shape with a little rust..... Did I get a decent deal?

    NOW WHAT?

I know there are some Iron experts here...... what do y'all say ?????

Nice find. Clean them and season them. Ken's link is good or Crisco on the gasser. Whatever works best for you.

Got all the Cast Iron together & soaked overnight in Coca Cola..... ...... Then took an abrasive pad with some salt & water & scrubbed the Hell outta them..... Then a wash in warm soapy water & dried..... Into the BBQ @ 225* to warm up..... Spray with Pam & wipe as much as you can off with a paper towel, then back into the BBQ @ 225* and that's it. Cooked some scrambled eggs on one of the smaller ones to see if it worked & it sure did.... I'm still kinda a Cast Iron rookie, but another thing to learn about .....Thanks for the help & links Ken, Ray & all.

Looks like a great deal to me, the Lodge Skillet would cost more than the $20.00 by itself...
