  • Hello from W. TN

Been retired for 7 years and hunted, fished and played golf till it became boring and decided to do some catering, events and vending. I was a Cert Chef for 30 years and found here where I retired to has the worst cooks in the south. The BBQ around here is a Whitt's and that just isn't Que. I am from N. MI and am an alumni of UM, then moved to FL 21 years ago and then here to TN when I retired.

I was stationed in a town called Millington for awhile just east of Memphis. Is that Navy Base still there? It was pretty old when I was there in good ol "75"

I stay way far away from Memphis. They won't let me mount a 50 cal on the roof of my truck, so I just don't feel safe going there. I went to school in Oakland county at a place called Waterford Twp. HS, but is a strip mall now from what I here. My family is from Houghton Lake. Some of the first settlers there in 1880.

Greetings Ol" Timer! Our eldest son lives in eastern Arkansas... possibly not too far from you. Visited him and his wife this spring, and ate out at least 5 times including s'posed Que.
Not good! so I know what you mean. Show em what good 'Q is all about! I think that nowadays, even in the south, you can only find really good 'Q concentrated in relatively small areas, or hit and miss. We found the same thing to be true when we visited a friend in southern Alabama. Of course, growing up in NE IN, I didn't have a clue about good 'Q until a couple years ago, myself, but restaurants around here are very good... a very competitive environment makes it necessary, if they want to stay in business.
