  • FoodSaver Vac 2222 for $24 - free shipping

Seen this on this mornings news talking about Christmas shopping deals...

    http://www.bradsdeals.com/deals/food...ed-p60528.html

I ordered one just as an extra for times that we are doing a lot of processing. One person usually makes the bags, another adds the food, and then passes it on to the person doing the sealing. We usually get a bunch of family and friends together and process every ones venison together. At $24 you can't go wrong I wouldn't think!!

    Happy Holidays!!

Great deal!! Extra foodsaver sealers are always handy during deer processing...we had 3 in use this year...one with a cutter, and two other basic sealers. We bagged a little over 300 lbs. of venison burger into 2 lb. packages.

              Great info.

I just ordered one. Been wanting one for awhile. I figure this "entry level" model will be good for showing Mrs. DDave how useful they are. Then getting a more expensive model later on will be her idea.

Why get a more expensive one? If this one works how much better could the 100$ one be? A vac seal is a vac seal right?

The more expensive ones have some extra features. Built in holders for the rolls, hands free operation, automatic bag detection, and some other stuff that I have ever used on our other models.

Another feature is that some machines allow you to seal and vac with little to no cool down time between bags, while others you may have to wait 20 seconds or so before going on to the next bag.

I have come to realize, mostly through my career involving computer and networking hardware, but in most other things as well, you get what you pay for.

I would not expect a $24 item to perform as well nor last as long as a more expensive model. But given how much, or how little, I use it, it may be just fine.

I agree. I suspect it's a closeout. This remeinds me of a few years ago when the same thing happened with the Westin Meat Slicer's. They were $400-500 depending on the size. I got mine from the company for $100 or so. They are commercial grade slicers and it was a heck of a deal.

A lot of us were buying them when someone posted it. I remembered when I talked to the guy on the phone. He said our phones are lit up today. Bunch of guys from a cooking forum . That was from the old days pre SMF, the old place a lot of us used to be at.

Well, that's true so in this case my example may not really apply.

But, generally speaking, there are performance differences at different price levels. And if I can get a $94 unit for $24, I'm good with that.

I got the one that I got, because of all of the stuff that comes with it and because of the added features. Paid $80. for $199. kit. It was essentially the same discount for more stuff. Never said that there was anything wrong with the $25. one.
