  • New Smoker Success!!

Here are some pics of my new propane smoker. Just finished it and test drove it today!
Not bad for $150.00, tried to keep the budget down.
6' tall, 2'x2' walls, lined the inside with oak that I planed down and insulated all walls and roof with 3" fiberglass insulation, outside is done in pine. Stove and chimney pipe taken from an old truck camper. Oven racks found in the recycle center. Holds heat very well for a -13 degree day! Brrrrr! Heat recovery time very good. Chicken and Venison turned out great! Lets put it this way, my wife ate the venison. Enjoy the pics! Suggestions on modifications are welcome!

Yer WIFE ATE VENISON?!? Well... when's the parade? ;{)

I was always a bit nervous about wood and fire... 88..any comments?

Sure is pretty tho. And I guess in case of a mis-hap... it's oak. Nice flavor!

@ Richtee - Couldn't afford stainless or aluminum on the walls. Next best thing was oak, and it was free!! Can't beat that!

Free is good. You COULD get some of that tile underlayment stuff at yer local Home Despot. .25 inch and pretty fire proof.

Or just be sure it's a ways from the house/garage.

Do you mean cement board? Is there any concern about chemicals in that??

Nice smoker. I'm afraid if I had that one, I'd try filling it up with pork and briskets. Just might be too much for the two of us.

Nope. Pretty inert stuff. Don't cut it over your food or burner is all.
