  • Insulated food gloves...

I did a search here and didn't come up with anything. Sooo..does anyone use insulated food gloves when taking things out of the smoker or for slicing brisket or pulling your pork...

If so which ones do you use? Just thinking I should have a pair for sanitary and food safety reasons. Been doing all sorts of things to get hot food off the smoker. Wadded up paper towels etc.

You could just get a pair of cheap wool gloves at some place like Fleet Farm and slip a pair of them cheap clear plastic food handler gloves over them? I'm a cheap ass so that's how my mind works

Surely there has to be some food grade insulated gloves sold somewhere....

I have a couple that I bought at BB&B, individual, silicone - supposedly good to 600F. Good so far. Juswt lifted my grate on the Weber (fire lit) with them no prob.

I confess here, bought a pair of Steve Raichlen's gloves which are da bomb. Got 'em from Amazon a few weeks ago. Not only can you pick up your butt or brisket off the grates, you can pick up the grates as well. Only used them once but I really liked them. Heavy duty for sure.

I just read about some and I think it was Allied Kenco, they were textured and insulated..seems like about 45$ a pair, they had 3 different choices at different prices and features...I have a pair that are insulated but smooth texture.. not my favorite... very slippery I paid about 10$ for these...they do the job tho

Yeah I seen those on Amazon and almost pulled the trigger on 'em. Read the reviews and the knock against them is they aren't textured and can be slippery. The reviewer then recommended these.
http://texasbbqrub.com/bbqgloves.htm They are textured and a buck cheaper plus free shipping. Don't know if I like the idea of the darn things going up to my elbows though. Don't want to look like I'm about ready to give an anal exam when all I'm doing is pulling on a pork butt!

The ones that go up to the elbow are the ones I linked to in my post. The Steve Raichelins don't go up to your elbows do they?

No, perhaps 6 inches past your wrist. They are a bit slippery, but it beats paper towels. Again, only used them once but they worked for me.

                    Oh HELL's YEAH, Montes...

You need a pair of Fryer Gloves

                    http://www.thebbqglove.com/The_Fryer_Glove.html

These are very nice - go almost to the elbow, and I haven't torn them up since Christmas.

I think I paid about $10 for mine. Thick rubber coated with the cotton flannel innards. Two or three years now and still keeping my digits cool.

My daughter got me a pair of those Ov Gloves for fathers day. Man o Man... Took a while to get to the bill fold after being scorched wearing those but as soon as I could I got a thick pair of rubber gloves.

I have a similar pair that came with my Ronco kit. I love them but they are very slippery.
