That's really cool... I would keep it a good distance from any mixing... Just sayin'....

making a small batch of the new England stuffing along with the stove top stuffing,

heres 2 more, i did the corn celery stuffing last year and it was pretty good. some years ago my uncle thought he had a brand new prize recipe for oyster stuffing, all he did was reinvent the wheel, and frankly i think the oyster stuffing recipe should be buried for all time, 1 bite is all i can stand.

its kept out of the light when not looked at. alot of the pages you can find some ingredients thats went down between the pages and from the recipe's on the pages you can tell what it might be

Very cool! My wife has a couple old ones that belonged to her great grandma, the oldest is a little pamphlet from 1928 that has some recipes and the names of winners of a local news paper's cooking contest. It's probably the size of a business card and only 20 pages but pretty cool.

Very cool book. Always liked the saying,...."If you want a new idea read an old book!"

I have a old good housekeeping cookbook that really shows how to develop recipies from the ground up.

The salad dressing section starts with making mayonnaise, or a simple vinaigrette. Then builds off of that.

Same with the soup section. Starts off with different stocks.

              Basic good cooking!

i agree these old books are truly the foundation of what we cook today, and most interesting this book goes on a 4 meal a day plan, breakfast, luncheon, dinner, supper,
over the years ive taken pics of the pages and put into a file but very few so far. if theres a secten or topic youd like to see some recipe's on please let me know (ill post those) as some interest in it would help me in completing this task, when im done i could offer the complete book on disk.

Wow, Chris, I have one, too, but mine was published in 1936. It belong to Andy's Great Grandmother and then his Grandmother and then his Father. I inherited it 2 years ago when my father in law passed away. I LOVE IT! And mine is also filled with handwritten recipes of his Great Grandmother's and Grandmother's, as well newspaper clippings of recipes and stories about people that I guess they knew.

It even has the receipt still attached in the front from when his Great Grandma got it. Here are some pics from my book that I do keep in a drawer away from light

                          The receipt:

$2.00 for a 5 year subscription to the Household Magazine and a recipe book...

                          Top of receipt:

                          Bottom:

                          A lot of sauce recipes:

                          Wild game section:

                          Sorry Squirrel...

Here are some clippings and handwritten recipes that are stuffed in the book.

I thought this was interesting...maybe during WWII? Talks about how to ration your sugar to have enough for baking during the holidays.

Keep enjoying the book, Chris! It's cool to see that there is another one still out there in commission.

It says to dress squirrel, then wash thoroughly... kinda backwards ain't it? Should I use pink panties?
