  • The Never Ending Tip Thread

Every once in a while (sometimes more often than that ) I screw something up, forget something, forget to do something, etc. that makes the difference between a smooth cook, great dinner, etc...... Ya know, some of you most likely have experienced it & said..... $h!t, I forgot to do this, or left out that.... etc..... Then, there are times when cooking that you need to improvise to finish something, or learn things the hard way & really screw something up..... (never been there )...... I was thinking it might be kinda neat to have an on going thread where folks can post their tips or tricks....... I will start with a couple of my favorites

    1) Never Pet A Burning Dog (an old timer in a tavern told me that when I was aboot 21 or so..... I didn't really get it at first, then laughed me personal ass off.....

    2) Always Rotate You Food When Cooking Multiple Racks Of Ribs, Butts, Etc.

This is for the young folks or older folks who missed this part of wisdom class.

Never start a campfire with Colemen Fuel (white gas) especialy after drinking.

        Few reasons why

        1) it's highly combustable (blew one of the logs off the fire)...
        2) Reflexes are considerably slower (got knocked on my ass but not until I screwed up my mustache and eyebrows)
        3) Rangers can see the fire ball from afar and will investigate.
        4) Wingman gets thrown out of Sun Lakes camp gound at night with a under aged drinking citation followed by a date in the Ephrata court. It's a small court....
Smoke it.. and they will come!

Always make sure you have enough fuel for the long haul before getting started. Don't guess know for certain. Weigh your tanks check your bags.

The next time you buy celery, remove the plastic bag and wrap tight in foil. It keeps a long long time in the fridge.
