I'm going to make a double batch Hoser's Teriyaki Sauce today. Plan is to marinate a couple of Tri Tips for tomorrow's party (figure about 4 hrs in the marinade tomorrow morning). Part of the sauce I'm going to thicken with Arrow Root if I can find it. If not I'll use Corn Starch.

The question is how do you think I ought to serve it up. Don't want to really use it with buns for sammies because of the Teriyaki. Thought about some type of wrap...

Keep in mind there will be the traditional ham, scallop potatoes, corn and salad.

    What do yunz think?

Just tried it last night. Marinated for 2 hours, great stuff. Gonna think out loud a bit. Maybe a wrap with grilled veggies like peppers and onions and maybe some grilled pineapple all in the wrap

        Rich,

Be careful..... it actually gets pretty thick once it cools down... depending upon how much you reduce it when simmering...This is some realllly good stuff! make a double batch if you can cause you will LOVE it... just be careful using the thickening agent... I would use cornstarch if I was to use anything... but a very very small amount!!! I will try to get a quick photo of it just a minute...

okay on edit here is the photo.. not quite like a pancake sirup.. but not like H20 either....

As for serving it up....you could do a nice wrap with some Asian veggies... like carrot strips and shrooms and maybe a few scallions a sesame seeds.

Tri tip...I'm a big fan of just slicing about 3/16" thick and serve with sauce on the side.. I may have to give this Teriyaki sauce a try, even though I am not a huge fan of sweet sauce or seasonings on meat. Not even a big fan of honey glazed ham. I prefer savory seasonings with meat. Just me though and I am willing to give it a try.

                Thanks for the input guys

Sauce is cooling as I type.. OMG the house smells tremendous. Had a little taste..OH YEAH

Like the lettuce wrap idea. Think I'll go with Jasmine Rice.. Like the nutty flavor.

Gonna use the grill wok for some veggies. Yellow /Red Peppers, Onion, Bamboo Shoots if available..

Have the sauce documented.. Will post pics of the cook when finished.

I'd be doing it with a side of wok tossed Asian greens.. Whatever you can find and some rice. Broccoli , Bok Choy silver beat or kale.. Heat a wok nice n hot and add some sesame oil, throw in some garlic and stir fry then throw in the longest cooking greens first with a dash of stock and progressively ad the rest, bit of soy and chilli or ginger if you like it and serve with rice

Bok Choy had crossed my mind along with jicama.

I'm a fan of Boston lettuce for wraps like that...maybe drizzle a little sauce over it as well.
