I've seen those in the store. I think the Char Griller branded one though.

They look heavy duty. The Char Griller is still @ $299 so that seems like a great deal

Have you looked at one up close Marty? I just looked briefly at one a year or so ago and from what I remember I believe I though they looked a bit on the cheap side. But heck for the price it might be worth it. I'll have to go take a look at them again when I'm at Menards.

I looked at one. Right after I got my Akorn. They're not very big. More for tailgating. A few burgers or dogs. A Smokey Joe would be a better investment. Just my .02.

Smokey Joe's are also 14"...... So, I'm guessing that "smoking" in them would not work that well, as the grill area is apparently fairly close, directly above the fuel area?.... Unlike the mini WSM made from a Smokey Joe that at least gives you some space between the fuel and the meat, along with a heat deflector plate in most applications I have seen anyway.

My thoughts on this were for camping. I like how a little lump will go a long ways. For smoking I think a pizza stone would work well as a heat deflector like the plate setter work in a BGE; now that I say that I wonder if they make a plate setter for the Mini BGE... I gotta go research this!

Or some sort of heat deflector? I like the insulated shell, and if you can get some sort of heat deflector set up, might be pretty cool for something like a single butt or a chuckie?

Not sure of how the fuel grate is set up, butt maybe a pizza style pan with holes drilled in it, setting directly above the fuel, resting against the side walls? Just thinking oot loud here.....
