  • Washing Machines...Any Appliance Guys/Gals Got A Recommendation?

After 3 years, our GE clothes washer died..... Would not spin, agitate, etc.... It is a top loader, due to size restrictions in our 1/2 bath/laundry room..... Tried all the reset options on the internet, and it worked for aboot a month..... Now, I think its destined for the appliance boneyard ..... My wife wants a new one, so I am stuck ....... Any new stuff any good? we had Bosch before and loved em, but sold them when we moved because the front loader would not work in the current 1/2 bath/laundry area.... GE is not an option for me at this point

    Any advice is appreciated

EDIT...... Sorry, this was intended to go into the Fire Pit area My bad!

We got the new style Whirlpool washer and dryer from Sears maybe 2 years ago, both pieces of crap. The repair guy has been here twice to fix them, says that's normal.
Lang 36 Patio, a few Webers, 2 Eggs, plenty of gadgets and a MES 40 Gen 2.5 electric for bacon and sausage.
My best asset however is the inspiration from the members on this forum.

I am also in the market... stay away from them front loaders I'm told... they have a mold/stink problem, in that they even sell a special cleaner to douche them with.

Check your model #...mine did the same this summer...the agitator may be bad. There are two types underneath it...one is called dogs & can't remember the other...mine was that one...it's like a clutch...was a cheap fix for me!

I have had Whirlpool front loader and dryer. It did require some visits to make a few warrantee repairs.

I moved over a year ago and bought Samsung front loader and dryer. They have been working fine from the get-go. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will last for a while.

Our washer went out RIGHT before Xmas. Was a front load whirlpool worked really really well an never had an issue. Until basement flooded an ruined a computer board on bottom area. Was a $300 part for a 10 yr old washer. Decided to just get a new one. Soooo got to reading around on internet a seems like the days of 10-15 yr washer& dryer sets are thing of the past. We settled on a top load LG with a direct drive motor. So no clutch or belt to replace or repair. But not sure how long these motors last.

BIL told us that when we bought ours. Said to leave door open after use. We've had our LG set for 4 years not one problem. Only complaint the wife has is we didn't buy the pedestals to set them on. We've had very good luck with LG appliances. Prices are reasonable and seem better built.

I dealt with this stuff for about a year and a half when I was an assistant store manager with Rent A Center. The customer base there was hard on the stuff. A very good test base. First off the front loaders were pulled from service in short order for a variety of reasons. There has been a design so they are trying them again according to my friend that is still with the company. In my experience the whirlpool Cabrio series is pretty good. The no agitator design gives them the capacity of a front loader without the issues a front loader brings to the table. We did the least amount of repair pick ups with those. Almost all of the repair pick ups were due to user abuse.

Imagine that... user abuse on a rental. Whoduh thunk? That's a great test tho, throw it to the public and see what happens, then weed out the weakest. Great info!
