  • Sourdough Boule in the Dutch Oven

My bad.....found a neglected, unfed sourdough start in the door of the outside fridge. I brought it back with some feedings and wanted to see if it had enough oomph to actually make a bread so started in on this project I've been meaning to get to. It wound up being a 2 day process as I ran out of time the first day so tossed partially risen dough in the fridge to retard it until today. It was very wet and spongy so I was having doubts but the recipe worked out and I'm impressed with my attempt at sourdough bread. I can honestly say it won't be my last loaf....this stuff is amazing. Not a fan of MS but ran across this recipe from a San Francisco bakery in her mag and liberated it. To complex, IMO, to type out so here is the link http://www.marthastewart.com/907240/...-country-bread

Funny your posting this as I am trying to restart my bread starter after two years in the freezer. First feeding I got some bubbles and the second one now has a lot more so I be thinking maybe two more and we be back in business.

a couple ounces of buttermilk added in? would help it. Unless you want it totally pure as to the original start.

Ya I'm not disagreeing with you Willie about the buttermilk but I'm not to keen on that stuff and this is a sweet bread starter. Very rare and came right from Texas. Its been around for over a hundred years but only to a select few. I have even dehydrated this stuff and had come back after about three weeks. All it takes is patients.

Woke up this morning to this wonderful site. I thinks it's alive again.
Almost doubled in size and lots of bubbles. It took three feedings and almost 2 weeks of patients. Something I am really not known for
Looks like fresh bread is around the corner.

The black line is where it started off.

                    Many happy tiny bubbles
