  • New from New Zealand.

    Hi guys and gals

I'm a young guy in the small town of Tokoroa down at the bottom of the globe in New Zealand.
I've never done any smoking before but after reading and looking at pics on another forum and watching my dad smoke fish, I thought it would be nice to give it a go.

Thanks for letting me sign up. I look forward to reading as much as I can and trying different things when I can.

    Jesse.

        Welcome to the forum Jesse!!!

My wife and I spent three weeks on vacation on both the north and south islands. You have a magnificent country. While in Queenstown we stayed at a BnB and caught some trout that our gracious hosts smoked up for us.

You will learn a great deal here on the site!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
Decided to jump right in. Found a lone steak in the freezer last night and stuck it in the fridge to defrost for dinner. Decided to have a crack at smoking it instead.

Rigged up a little smoke box with a can and a soldering iron.

Using oak chips and a little bit of whiskey.

                  Smells so good so far.

Save whiskey for cook... cover can with foil with a couple holes in it. Oh and please burn the paint off the can first...
