  • I am so disappointed with NA$CAR, I am going back to my roots

I am so disappointed with NA$CAR that I am going back to my roots.

If you do not know what I am talking about here is a great read.
    http://www.timesherald.com/article/J...ORTS/151219972

The rich get richer and there will be no independent single car teams.
Only 40 cars will start any given race.
Charter cars and team will belong to 6 to 8 owners.
The list goes on and on.....

So I am going back to my roots, local short tracks, late models, modifieds, sprints and midgets.

The clip below shows a sprint car that will be making 30% more horsepower than every car racing in NA$CAR top bracket next year.

Now that i think about it, the best NA$CAR race I watched last was the trucks on the dirt at Eldora....

I understand Padre... NASCAR has gotten so f*cked up. I was a religious NASCAR freak for years. Now, I just cook and take pictures. And yeah, I love sprint car racing. Haven't been to one in years, butt I wanna. Let's get together!

Yep, I've been pretty much done with NASCAR ever since the 'stock' cars no longer looked stock. I miss the days when an actual bumper could actually fall off a car... actually. I'll still watch Daytona & Talledega bhut thats aboot it.

I loved going to the Sprints & Midgets on a Sat night oot at Manzanita Speedway - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manzanita_Speedway. There was nothing better than sitting in the stands off the first turn, cheering your driver on & having a chunk of mud flop into your beer. The seasoned fan always had one hand over the cup. My brother was a machinist & worked with Lealand McSpadden - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lealand_McSpadden. We would head into the infield after the races & shoot the bull with Lealand. He still shows up to work at the machine shop every morning. I think I still have sum "Tempe Tornado" t-shirts tucked away somewhere. Unfortunately, Manzanita Speedway fell to progress. It used to be oot in the middle of a bunch of farmland bhut now is some industrial park type thing.
          .

Not to mention the occasional campfire

Yep I saw it happen to IRL and now Nascar. At least IRL tried to correct their misgivings at the time.

I am afraid that times are a changing and I will be watching something else on Sunday afternoon.

As ALX would say...Are they still gonna dump the crotch and drop the jack? That's when it really gets exciting.

Hockey was my last bastion of “real” pro sports. Sadly it has delined into the pit as well.

While never a NASTYCAR fan, I DO appreciate a good race. I prefer to drive

Yeah, things have changed big thyme... everywhere. I used to work for DuPont, and acquired photographer pit passes to Dover Downs. Had that fun for ten years straight. There was nothing like roaming thru the pits, up close and shooting the action. Loved it. Butt now, it is near impossible to get in at the level I had... ahhhh, the memories...

Like any other pro sport these days, its all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, and less aboot the fans or experience, outside the merchandising, which needs the fans to purchase $175 jerseys......

25 years ago, some pro athlete types still had other jobs in the off season......
