  • My take on a Cuban

Well I've been wanting to make Cuban sandwiches for a while. So today I made my take on them for a try. I took a loin roast and rubbed it with some maple bacon bourbon rub. Then I roasted it in the oven @ 500f until a internal temp of 150f. I then wrapped and put in freezer to chill it. Meanwhile I sauteed Portobello mushrooms with onions and green peppers. I then took Italian bread and put spicy brown mustard on one side and mayo on the other. Then started with a layer of provolone then some smoked ham, then I sliced the pork roast thin and added it. On top of that I added the onions mushrooms and peppers, then some thick pepper bacon topped off with Swiss cheese. I grilled it on my grill pan using another skillet to act as my press. Turned out great.

Thanks all! It was freaking delicious! It will definitely be on the menu again.

I love taking recipes and tweaking and making my own. Next time I will smoke a loin and try that.

Making your own twist on a recipe is what it's all about. I never follow a recipe exactly... well except for some of the ones on this site... great cooks here!

I tell ya I'd love to be cooking full time and get out of the factory. I made some the other night and brought one in to my work partner. That was on Monday and he's still bragging about it to the guys lol. I didn't think it was that amazing but he sure did lol.
