  • Recommended iPhone thermostat???

Fathers Day is coming up and I usually drop a hint with a wish list to the girls.

They bought me an iPhone last year to replace my flip and I'm finally figuring how to use it... i.e. Tapatalk!

I've always just used the hour a pound and touch test to see if my briskets were done and want to move out of the Stone Age with a temperature monitor.

Google landed me on the iGrill 2 but after reading the reviews about issues with the probes I'm not sure and the post I've read so far on the forum just confused.

    Any recommendations???

      Recommended iPhone thermostat???

I found the Thermapen BlueTherm probe for iPhone...

One question... Does it only monitor the probe in the meat or can you set a second surface probe with a hi/low alarm to let you know when it's time to stoke the fire??? The details on the website didn't specify.

What I really need is an alarm to wake me up when it's time to throw another log on the fire on an overnight smoke... Right now I set the timer on my iPhone to wake me up every 60 to 90 minutes to go check.

        I've heard of this one.

Maybe spotty on range but not sure, give many reviews a read. It logs in a graph etc and is good up to 4 probes. If I wan't so happy with ol' trusty Maverick ET-732 I'd consider getting one.

I'm tryin' to walk upright out of the Stone Age... When I was younger I could pull an all nighter, gettin' to old for that.

Maybe I just need to forget about this iPhone thing and get a Maverick!!!

I use an ET-735. Never had a problem. Bluetooth pairs pretty fast if I leave or just turn off the phone. About 50 feet to the smoker. Overall pleased with the product. Good luck!

I grill 2 is great. I like the versatility and interface. Like you have read from other reviews the probes are spotty. I have had one since this past Christmas and already had one probe replaced about a month ago after maybe 4 uses. I thought I was taking care of them and never submerged it in water. If you do get one I would only wipe the probes with a damp cloth to clean and be careful not to kink the wire. I have heard others have siliconed the end the wire inserts into
